The short answer
Hair botox is a deep-conditioning treatment that fills gaps in damaged hair fibre with proteins, amino acids and oils, leaving hair smoother, shinier and more manageable for 2 to 4 months. Despite the name it contains no botulinum toxin and involves no injections. It suits dry, frizzy, mildly damaged hair; it does not straighten like rebonding or repair severe chemical damage.
The name is marketing, and confusing marketing at that. Hair botox contains no botox, involves no needles, and paralyses nothing. What it is: an intensive filler treatment that patches up damaged hair from the inside. Here is what it does, what it does not, and who should book it.
01What it is
A concentrated cocktail of proteins, amino acids, vitamins and oils, applied to the hair and sealed in with heat. The formula fills the microscopic gaps and cracks in damaged cuticles, the way filler smooths skin, which is where the name comes from.
The result: hair that is smoother, heavier, shinier and far easier to manage. Frizz drops significantly. It is repair and cosmetic improvement in one sitting, not a structural change like straightening treatments.
02Hair botox vs keratin
Clients confuse the two constantly. Keratin coats and smooths with heat-sealed protein: stronger frizz control, better for very frizzy or unruly hair. Hair botox fills and repairs from within: better for dry, damaged, lacklustre hair that needs nourishment more than discipline.

03Who should get it
Ideal: dry, frizzy, dull hair; mild heat or colour damage; hair that tangles and refuses to shine; anyone wanting smoother hair without chemical straightening.
Skip it: severely damaged or gummy hair (needs cutting or protein reconstruction first); anyone expecting pin-straight results; very fine hair that goes limp with heavy treatments, though a lighter formula can work, worth discussing.
04How long it lasts, and upkeep
Two to four months depending on hair condition, washing frequency and products. Sulphate-free shampoo extends it; daily hot-water washes shorten it. Unlike rebonding there is no regrowth line to manage: it simply fades, and you repeat when the frizz creeps back.

Is hair botox safe?
Yes. Despite the name it contains no botulinum toxin; it is a topical conditioning treatment with proteins and oils. Reputable formulations are formaldehyde-free, unlike some older keratin treatments, but always ask what is being applied.
Does hair botox straighten hair?
It smooths and reduces frizz, which makes wavy hair look straighter, but it does not restructure curls the way rebonding or keratin straightening does. Expect manageability, not pin-straight.
How is hair botox different from a hair spa?
A hair spa is maintenance conditioning; hair botox is a concentrated repair treatment with stronger actives and heat sealing. Think of the spa as regular servicing and botox as an overhaul.
Can I get hair botox on coloured hair?
Yes, and coloured hair often benefits most since colouring roughens the cuticle that botox fills. Wait about a week after fresh colour so the shade settles first.
