Pre-Bridal Hair Timeline: A One-Month Plan for Wedding Hair
The short answer
Start one month out: week one for assessment, deep repair treatments and colour (if any); week two for a second conditioning session and styling discussions; week three for the final trim and glossing; week four for rest, no new treatments, just maintenance. Never try a new chemical treatment or drastic cut in the final two weeks.
Everyone plans the bridal skin timeline and forgets the hair until the trial appointment, when the stylist delivers the bad news about damage, faded colour or split ends. Wedding hair photographs from every angle, all day. It deserves its own month-long plan, running alongside the skin one.
01Week one: assess and repair
Consultation first: the stylist assesses damage, dryness, colour history and scalp health. Book the heavy treatments now: deep repair, keratin or nanoplastia if frizz is the enemy, scalp treatment if needed. If you are colouring, do it this week so the shade settles naturally and any correction has time.
Our treatment comparison helps choose the right smoothing option.
02Week two: condition and plan
Second conditioning session to build on week one. This is also the week for detailed styling discussions: bring reference photos, your outfit neckline, the venue (outdoor humidity changes everything). If extensions are being considered, they are ordered and colour-matched now.
03Week three: trim and gloss
The final trim: just the ends, no restyles, no experiments. A glossing treatment adds the reflective shine that photographs beautifully. This is the last week for any salon chemistry; after this, hands off.
04Week four: rest
No new treatments, no colour, no cuts. Maintenance only: gentle washing, conditioning, oiling if that is your routine. The hair equivalent of the bridal skin rule: the last week is for rest, not experiments. Sleep well; tired hair shows.
Running the skin plan too? Our one-month bridal skincare timeline runs on the same rhythm.
Bridal hair questions
When should I colour my hair before my wedding?
Three to four weeks before: week one of the timeline. This lets the shade settle, allows correction time if needed, and avoids fresh-colour harshness in photos.
Can I get keratin before my wedding?
Yes, in week one, which gives it time to settle into its natural look. Do not book it in the final two weeks; freshly treated hair can look overly flat in the first days.
Should I cut my hair before the wedding?
Trim, don't restyle. Week three, ends only. A new cut right before the wedding is a gamble with no recovery time; save experiments for after.
How do I make my hair look good in wedding photos?
Shine and health photograph better than elaborate styling. Glossed, well-conditioned hair with clean ends looks expensive in every frame; damaged hair does not, regardless of the style.
