Rebonding Aftercare: Keeping Pin-Straight Hair Perfect in NCR
The short answer
For the first 72 hours after rebonding, do not wash, tie, clip or tuck your hair, so no creases set. After that: sulphate-free shampoo, wash 2 to 3 times a week, deep-condition weekly, minimise heat styling, and protect from Gurugram sun and hard water. Plan root touch-ups every 6 to 9 months before the regrowth line gets obvious.
Rebonding gives you perfect hair on day one. Whether it still looks perfect on day ninety is decided by aftercare. The chemistry is permanent, but daily habits decide whether the lengths stay sleek or turn dry and brittle. Here is the full routine.
01The first 72 hours
This is the non-negotiable window. Do not wash, wet, tie, clip, tuck behind ears or wear a helmet. Sleep with hair spread above the pillow, not bunched underneath you. Any crease pressed into the hair now can set semi-permanently, because the bonds are still settling.
If it rains, cover the hair completely. NCR weather does not respect treatment schedules.
02Washing, the right way
After 72 hours: sulphate-free shampoo, lukewarm water, 2 to 3 washes a week. Hot water and daily washing are the fastest ways to dry out chemically treated hair. Condition every wash, focusing on mid-lengths and ends; the roots of rebonded hair rarely need extra conditioning.
A weekly deep-conditioning masque is the single highest-value habit. Ten minutes, once a week, without fail.
03Heat, sun and water
Heat: the irony of rebonding is that you no longer need daily straightening, so stop doing it. If you must style with heat, use a protectant every time.
Sun: Gurugram UV fades and dries treated hair. A cap or scarf in peak afternoon sun is cheap insurance.

04Managing regrowth
New growth arrives with your natural texture, creating the visible line between straight lengths and wavy roots. Do not try to straighten just the roots daily; that fries the most fragile hair on your head.
Plan touch-ups every 6 to 9 months, before the line gets obvious. Between appointments, a blow-dry with a round brush blends the transition far more safely than flat-ironing it.
Aftercare questions
Can I oil rebonded hair?
Yes, lightly and on the lengths, not heavy oiling on the scalp. A light serum or a few drops of argan oil on mid-lengths and ends keeps treated hair supple. Heavy weekly oiling followed by strong washes can dry it out.
Why is my rebonded hair getting frizzy?
Usually one of three causes: hard water buildup, heat styling without protection, or skipped conditioning. A clarifying wash followed by a deep masque fixes most cases; persistent frizz needs a salon assessment.
Can I colour rebonded hair?
Yes, but wait at least two weeks after rebonding, and tell your colourist about the treatment. The two chemistries stacked carelessly cause breakage; spaced and sequenced properly, they coexist fine.
How long does rebonding last with good aftercare?
The treated lengths stay straight permanently; good aftercare keeps them looking sleek rather than dry. Most clients touch up regrowth every 6 to 9 months and trim the treated lengths gradually over a couple of years.
